Young driver test session kicks off at Jerez

The first day of the young driver test session kicked off on Tuesday morning at the Jerez circuit in Spain. The three days of testing are aimed at allowing up-and-coming drivers a chance to drive an F1 car and gain experience in the sport – something they cannot do during the Formula One season thanks to the testing ban.

Red Bull tester Brendon Hartley and Toro Ross tester Daniel Ricciardo caused a red flag when they both span. Hartley initially spun his car after the chicane and Ricciardo, who was close on his tail, also spun his car whilst trying to avoid him.

Drivers out on track this morning were:
Brendon Hartley (Red Bull Racing)
Daniel Ricciardo (Toro Rosso)
Bertrand Baguette (Renault)
Jules Bianchi (Ferrari)
Mike Conway (Brawn GP)
Gary Paffett (McLaren)
JR Hildebrand (Force India)
Andy Soucek (Williams)
Alexander Rossi (Sauber)
