Vettel penalised for Button overtake

Sebastian Vettel has been given a penalty for his overtake on McLaren driver Jenson Button towards the end of the German Grand Prix.

Vettel passed Button with less than two laps of the race remaining at the exit of the hairpin – however he ran off the track whilst making the pass. According to race stewards, the move was illegal and they have handed Vettel a post-race drive-through penalty. This means that 20 seconds have been added to his finishing time which has demoted the German from second place to fifth.

This means that Jenson Button has been promoted to second, with Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen moving up to third.

I clearly remember a few weeks ago Hornor commenting on how Alonso’s day would come that his so called “LUCK” would run out…lmao. Alonso is in his zone, a league of his own…at this stage of the season he is untouchable and he is clearly driving better than anyone on the field at this time. Ask the real drivers like Hamilton that can admit the obvious and you will see that they agree with exactly what I am saying…not kissing ass Button or calling people cucumbers Vettle…when you can out grow your ego than you will be rated #1, 3yrs running by all the teams just like Alonso…OH…and he hasn’t won the championship since when?? LMAO

Not entirely sure what “Gabe” is ranting about – if you’re going to post at least make it a bit clear? I’m not sure whether you’re trying to insult Alonso or praise him.

Alonso is indeed doing well, but I wouldn’t credit this to just him. The car is performing quite well even though it doesn’t show in Massa’s hands, so it’s a lot to do with the work that has gone into the car and not just “Alonso”, but I have noticed he doesn’t make many errors and also is less likely to fall for ploys by other drivers, he’s mentally up there and fully committed.

I feel a bit sorry for Massa, seems like his time is up.

Alonso is in a class of his own. He was performing and WON in Malaysia when the car was more of a kart. With this Ferrari now, he stands a clear chance of winning the title. Massa has to jump back to be among top 8 if he wants to have a chance at Scuderia next season. He is a very good driver and has to collect his act together.
