Sutil confirms winter talks with top teams

Adrian Sutil has confirmed that over the winter period, he entered into talks with McLaren and Williams about driving for them during the 2008 season.

Talking to the SID news agency, Sutil revealed that paddock gossip was true and he was looking for a more competitive drive, however both teams eventually chose different drivers for the 2008 season. Sutil explained that he wasn t disappointed not to get a race-seat in a better car as he was just happy that his performances had been noticed by some of the top teams.

“I am not sure that disappointed is the right word,” he explained. “All winter, I was content that I had a solid contract with Force India when we signed the contract, it was always planned that we would be here longer than one year.

“Of course it was good when after only one year, my name was being associated with McLaren and Williams. We certainly looked at what we could do and, of course, it is a dream to move to a top team. Talks did take place but let s see what the future brings.

“My goal is to be with a competitive team as quickly as possible. It is also important to wait and see what can happen with this team in the next few years perhaps we will get some success.”
