Red Bull’s RB8 unveiled

Red Bull RB8 F1 carRed Bull Racing’s 2012 Formula One car, the RB8 – which will contest this year’s Formula One campaign and defend the Team’s two successive World Championship titles – has been unveiled.

The team are hoping to defend both the drivers and constructors championship this season however Team Principal Christian Horner believes they face stiff opposition.

Williams confirms Senna for 2012

Williams has announced Bruno Senna as Pastor Maldonado’s race teammate for the 2012 season.

“That’s right, I will not be driving the Williams this year,” veteran Rubens Barrichello, who had hoped to contest a 20th consecutive season, told his masses of Twitter followers in Portuguese. “I wish my friend Bruno the best of luck.”

The 2011 season is over. The dust has well and truly settled on Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull’s domination and there are only a few superlatives left in the thesaurus for shell-shocked observers to use about the man – the phenomenon – this season. Red Bull stuns F1 with all-new Toro Rosso lineup

Red Bull has stunned the F1 world by ousting existing drivers Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi and installing an all-new lineup for its second team Toro Rosso. The Faenza based team announced that its new drivers are Australian Daniel Ricciardo (22) and Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne (21).

Ferrari and Red Bull quit FOTA

Ferrari and Red Bull have pulled out of the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA).

Both the top teams separately confirmed the news, with a FOTA spokeswoman saying: “We are trying to arrange a meeting to sit the teams around the table and see where this takes us.”

Renault/Lotus team signs Raikkonen for F1 return

Kimi Raikkonen will return to F1 in 2012, the Lotus Renault GP team announced on Tuesday.

The former McLaren driver, 2007 world champion and winner of 18 grands prix, who left F1 after the 2009 season with Ferrari, has “signed a two-year agreement”, a media statement read.

Kubica will not start 2012 season with Renault

The Renault team have announced that Robert Kubica will not be ready to return to F1 early in 2012.

Throughout 2011, the Pole has been recovering from horror injuries sustained in a rally crash in February. The Enstone based team said Kubica is now in “an intensive training programme” but has told Renault “it is still too early” to commit to racing in F1 in 2012.

HRT signs McLaren’s de la Rosa

HRT has surprised the F1 world by announcing Pedro de la Rosa as one of its race drivers for the 2012 season. The 40-year-old Catalan returned to his regular role as McLaren’s long-time reserve driver this year after an abortive racing comeback in 2010 with Sauber.
