Button to be honoured by hometown

Jenson Button is set to be honoured by his hometown in recognition of his title success in 2009.

Members of  Frome town council, want to name a new bridge after their local hero as well as make the Brit an honorary citizen.

Mayor Damon Hooton told the BBC:  “The bridge is going to be built anyway so we decided it would be a good idea to name it after him.

“He [Jenson Button] will have a presentation scroll to commemorate it and we’re going to name the new bridge to be built in Frome after him.

“We will put a plaque on the bridge with a suitable commemoration on it. We’re hoping the bridge will be built between now and the summer.”
