Alonso third in cycling time trial
World championship leader Fernando Alonso knows how to relax between races. The Spaniard, who has scored points in his Ferrari in every race so far in 2012, this week contested a cycling road time trial in his native Asturias.
Alonso, 30, completed the 21 kilometre course in just under 29 minutes, finishing third on a state-of-the-art carbon bike in a field of more than sixty riders.
On Twitter, he said he was “happy” with the result.

…….IS HE SERIOUS!!!!? Lets all send Fernando a little message on his new twit/facebook site TELLING HIM NOT TO BE SO STUPID!!!! With such a tightly “contested” championship this year, and bearing in mind what happened to Mark Webber a couple of years back, does Fernando really want to risk derailing his chances of winning what is widely being touted as F1s “greatest season”? Im sure he is as capable on a cycle as he is in a car, but the risk is always there for something out of the ordinary to occur, and Fernando and Ferrari are not get any points or prizes for him winning a home event cycle race on a Sunday afternoon!! So Fernando, do us all a favour, and lower a few heart rates by avoiding the risky stuff off-track until after the last race please! Besides, you will have a lot of very very p55d off supporters if you manage to injure yourself doing something uneccessary after doing so well so far!!
