Sutil has been a pain in the a$$ this season. Everytime we get a late safety car, its usually caused by him spinning his car somewhere....and made a few stupid racing incidents as well. I thought he had some potential to win a few races when at Force India and before cutting someone's throat, but now he looks like a spent force already. If he leaves F1 end of this season, I'd be thankful.

You have to wonder why FI dropped him after so many years for no apparent reason

There was an apparent reason - Perez and Hulkenburg are better drivers!

Who'd have thunk it that the biggest silly season news to come out would be a pretty important restructuring of the CVC television rights money distribution.

And, another one bites the dust:

, Gary Watkins wrote:">Audi denies reports that it is planning an F1 entry for 2016

Audi has no plans to enter Formula 1 in the short-term.

Wolfgang Ullrich, head of Audi, denied press reports that the manufacturer is gearing up for an F1 entry in 2016.

"There is no decision that we are going in that direction," he told AUTOSPORT.

"Audi has a motorsport programme that at the moment is based on the World Endurance Championship and the DTM, and we are working on the cars for next season. There is no other programme."

Ullrich pointed out that former Ferrari F1 boss Stefano Domenicali's recruitment by Audi was unconnected with motorsport.

"Yes, he has joined Audi, but we haven't said yet what his job will be; no, he will not be involved in motorsport," he said.

Ullrich has repeatedly said during his tenure as head of Audi Sport, which dates back to 1993, that it is his job to evaluate all forms of motorsport.

Asked if Audi has aspirations to enter F1 in the longer term he replied: "There is nothing decided."

He explained that the new-for-2014 F1 regulations, which have a greater emphasis on hybrid technology, did not necessarily make an Audi entry any more likely than in the past.

NO TALKS WITH ALONSO

Ullrich also revealed that there had been no contact with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who has been rumoured to be contemplating racing at the Le Mans 24 Hours should he, as now seems unlikely, take a sabbatical from F1 in 2015.

"Mr Alonso was in our pit at Le Mans this year [when he was honorary starter of the 24 Hours], and that is it - there is no contact," he said

We've seen historically, whenever there is a denial, the very issue being denied later happens. Audi will be in F1...maybe not using the Audi brand. They may use VW.

or Lambo - maybe add some racing pedigree that Lambo has always lacked and prime it to take over the Ferrari spot once and for all if Ferrari find themselves 'distracted' from on track results by their new shareholders

Caterham's failure to make it to Austin ended the possibility of a surprise comeback for Rubens Barrichello.

The 42-year-old has made no secret of the fact that he would like to race an F1 car again, and has always been frustrated that he did not have a proper farewell race at his home event. Since his last F1 race he has remained active in Brazilian stock cars and karting.

Encouraged by support from the Brazilian GP promoter Colin Kolles, there had been a deal being put together that would have seen Rubens replacing Kamui Kobayashi for the last three Grands Prix of the season.

“We would have run Barrichello in the last three races,” a team source told FOXSports.com. “We had sponsorship for this, and everything was going the right way. It would have been fantastic for F1.”

Speaking exclusively about the plan, Rubens added: “It would have been great to race in front of my people once again and say goodbye properly.”

That's a shame. That would have been nice. I do hope they sort this money out. Or Bernie 'goes away'.

Even if Alonso drives....I could just about bear with it.
