Gerhard Gribkowsky/Bernie Ecclestone Scandal

Postby LRW » 27 Jun 12, 18:39

I did search, but couldnt find an outright topic on this. So.....

http://www.forumula1.com/news/gribkowsky-sentenced-jail-f1-bribery/

http://www.forumula1.com/news/prosecutors-say-ecclestone-corruption-accomplice/

http://www.inautonews.com/mercedes-could-quit-f1-over-bribery-scandal

Is it all just stories, and threats, or do you think Bernie really thinks he may be going down for a long stretch......

(I also read somewhere last week that his highness Bernie may not go to the German GP, due to fear of arrest.)

Ps, if anyone wants to bribe me with $44m then Im open to negotiation.....

Such a pathetic statement from Merc.... this is not the first time they've suggested a possible quit, and to be honest, it's not surprising in the least. As a true car manufacturer, their long term involvement is always a matter of fragility anyway.

As for Bernie, well, fear of arrest in Germany is quite funny. :hehe:

It may sound kinda $#@!ed up but does anybody else see this as an opportunity to be done with bernie and his silly artificial rain ideas and what some would call extorting host countries for races by charging ridiculous fees???

I love it! I love it! I LOVE IT!!

Bernie is a scumbag, a liar, a thief and a cheat.

He's greedy heartless son of a bitch.

 I hope he gets sent to prison. Good Riddance. He's been holding F1 back. Care less about the money and care more about the fans.

I was reading about this on a blog site:

Bernie said that he had been worried that if he hadn't paid the money, then Gribkowsky would have alerted the UK tax authorities to "things" that might have led to a tax inquiry.

"The only alternative was that the British tax authorities followed a case that would have been very expensive for me," he had said.

"The tax risk would have exceeded £2bn...I paid him [£28 million] to keep calm and not to do silly things."

Bernie leaves his daughter to do the talking

Bernie Ecclestone, under the spotlight as the UK's Serious Fraud Office decide whether to investigate his financial affairs, refused to speak to the media as he arrived at Wednesday night's Great Ormond Street Hospital F1 party.

He left the talking to daughter Tamara who helped organise the event. "We raised £650,000 last year and this year, in my mind, the target is to beat that," she gushed. "Great Ormond Street is such an amazing place and obviously they need all the money we can get.

"These are hard times for people but I think people who come here tonight should dig deep and spend lots of money."

Asked about her father's plans for a grand prix through the streets of London she trilled: "I think London is such a fabulous city and Formula One is glamorous and fabulous and fantastic, and street circuits have such a great buzz about them so I would be all for it."

So Bernie is talking less....and is it just me, or does his daughter sound very 'legally blonde'? :hehe:
Lewis:
"In Turkey 2010, I led the race and was told to back off to save fuel and JB had also been told to back off and hold position. Then he overtook me, just as Sebastian did to Mark. That was tough. So I understand the feelings Mark had."

So. It seems Ecclestone did avoid Germany. If that doesn't scream guilty, I don't know what does - he never misses a rave weekend.......
