I'm now tempted to make a comment that's in bad taste!

E tu, RC??

((OK, both of you stop, at least until we hear it's nothing serious!!
Otherwise, we'll all feel pretty sheepish about this!! ))

I think the report sounded fairly positive.

[sagi58]

It did sound promising; however, with head injuries, you just never know!

We had a teacher on staff who got body checked by one of our hockey team
players. Got knocked to the ice and ended up with concussion. Complained
about a headache, and as soon as he got home, his ex took him to hospital.
He ended up having a brain aneurysm as a result (I believe)!

[racechick]

Yep. Nasty business head injuries, but they did get Michael there straight away. They have said it's not life threatening, but they haven't given much more information than that.

[sagi58]

Apparently, in these types of injuries, time is of the essence!!

Bumped his head on a rock

[Nin-Chin]

German reports say he has brain haemorrage aka brain bleeding.

[racechick]

French reports also. They now say life threatening!! Oh no! Come on Michael, come on!!

Wow, I hope this is just internet hyperbole. We're pulling for you Schumacher!

[operaman]

All head injuries are reason for concern, but these latest reports are particularly troubling. I will save my comments on concussion and helmet use, until we are sure that Michael is out of danger. Until then, my thoughts are for his recovery.

It's on the news on the television now.

[Nin-Chin]

BBC say he is critically ill, no no no it can't end like this

He is in a coma, with severe head injury.

This is just awful. I don't know if I'll be able to go to bed tonight unless I know that he's going to pull through...

[racechick]

Anyone wanting to keep abreast news and info on these sort of injuries, this guy on twitter seems to know a lot.

In many cases of head trauma, the patient gets put into an induced coma to give the brain a chance and time to reduce the swelling (aided by the medical personnel by removing fluids). The built-up pressure onto the brain is the first and most serious concern that the doctors are taking care of right now probably.
