Changing "managers" is never a good idea, it rarely changes the fortunes for the better, I see it in soccer all the time back home in the UK, managers are fired because of poor form, only for that form to continue from manager to manager. Like Sagi has said, it's scapegoating plain and simple, the issue is deeper rooted that that!

Dieter Zetsche: 'Nico Rosberg has contract for 2017'
Filed: Monday, May 16, 2016 at 08:31 UK
Last Updated: Monday, May 16, 2016 at 08:31 UK

"Nico Rosberg looks set to stay at Mercedes beyond 2016.

Before the sensational first-lap crash with teammate Lewis Hamilton on Sunday, Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche suggested to the German media that championship leader Rosberg has secured a new contract.

"Both drivers are under contract for the forthcoming season," Speed Week quotes him as saying."

'ROSBERG STARTS 2017 CONTRACT TALKS WITH FERRARI'
Published on 17 May 2016 20:45

"Championship leader Nico Rosberg is fast becoming a key to the 2017 'silly season'. In Barcelona, Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche announced that the on-form German is in fact "under contract" for next year.

But that might not quite be true, as Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff declared on Monday that Fernando Alonso might be a target for the future.

"Fernando is one of the best drivers in history and I like his character, but our priority now is Nico," he told El Mundo.

"If he (Rosberg) does not want to renew, then we will consider other options, like Fernando," Wolff added.

Now, Italy's Corriere della Sera is reporting that talks between Ferrari and Rosberg, the winner of seven consecutive grands prix until last Sunday, have begun.

Correspondent Giorgio Terruzzi said Ferrari's new interest in Rosberg is powered by moves at other top teams to spice up their respective drivers' lineups.

Red Bull has Max Verstappen, McLaren will reportedly sign up Stoffel Vandoorne for 2017, and so officials at Ferrari believe "36-year-old Kimi, though well-liked by most in the team, is considered too inconsistent".

"On the contrary, it seems Rosberg in his full maturity is always fast, strengthened by his difficult experience at Hamilton's side."

Terruzzi also said Mercedes "would be weakened by his (Rosberg's) departure, especially if he wins the title in 2016"."

This week Italian website Corriere reported Mercedes driver and championship leader Rosberg has been courting the Italian team over a drive alongside Vettel next season. Rosberg and Vettel's teammate, Kimi Raikkonen, are both on deals which expire at the end of 2016.

When asked about the report, Vettel smiled and said: "As long as he's not flirting with me it's good news!

That's cold :P

Can you imagine the backlash if Hamilton ends up with Alonso as a teammate... and loses to him??

I think that Rosberg would be silly to leave Mercedes in 2017; unless money is more important than a potential world title to him, even with the rules shakeup from 2017 onwards, Mercedes will still be the team to beat, I don't see any team catching up with the German team in the next 2 years, especially with RB's Adrian Newey supposedly working on other projects.

Looks like Button is rumoured to be signing with Williams taking Massa's seat making room for Vandoorne to step in at Mclaren.

I think that Jenson returning to Williams will be a fitting end to his career, having literally gone full circle. Williams seems to be where old F1 drivers go to die (metaphorically) recently, first Barrichello, then Massa and now Button if the rumors are true. And unless McLaren / Honda come up with something special for 2017, JB should be moving up the grid as well!

Now the rumor mill is suggesting that Williams will have an all new lineup of Jenson Button and Danill Kvyat for 2017 with Felipe Massa going to Renault while Mercedes and Ferrari are interested in Valteri Bottas. It seems somewhat odd that Ferrari would want Bottas given how he hasn't been that convincing against former Ferrari driver Massa.
