31 years ago today we lost a great driver - Salut Gilles.

For me, Gilles was the driver that so influenced my love of F1. I grew up watching and adoring his driving. What I learned about him as I grew and read more, simply made me appreciate him even more. Whilst he doesn't have the records or titles of a Schumacher, he was none the less a great driver IMO. He was simply unfortunate enough to drive for Ferrari at a time when we were simply not dominant and, generally had inferior cars to our then opposition.

Some of the great action GV served up to us. Strange he was able to entertain without lasagna (see I can learned) tires or DRS.

Watching that never gets old. That's racing at 100%, not something we get to see often nowadays.
