Water drainage from rain has long been an issue in Formula 1 and indeed other motors ports.
Though many say rain water on the track makes the race more interesting, when it comes to the race being red flagged because of too much water this is when it becomes an issue.
I found this video online and wondered what everyone's thoughts were if this special tarmac was introduced to Formula 1?

If it's suitable for racing on then it might be useful to avoid puddling on the track but it would have to be able to put up with the forces exerted by an F1 car and how long will it continue to work before becoming clogged up with stuff like the rubber off tyres or other debris. I also think it would need some pretty complex drainage solutions, the water has to go somewhere and on tracks with gradients you wouldn't want the water running through the track and coming up elsewhere. So it wouldn't just be a case of replacing the tarmac IMO, its not going to be cheap to do.
