Porsche = real sportscar as much development comes from racing. Lamborghini = tractor as much development comes from farm machines.

Porsche anyday without a doubt for me and I cannot wait to finally get one too.

Yeah, you're wrong.

Nothing wrong with farm machines at all!

In all honesty I'd sooner drive a massie Ferguson than a Proch.

I'll await the new John Deere hypercar in 2012... The JD T2 GT3 car to follow...

[andrew]

Rain, shine or snow, it does it all!

[AKR]

Yeah, you're wrong.

I may make mistakes, but I'm never wrong. Kiki R. is never wrong, remember it.

[andrew]

Yeah, you're wrong.

Thank you for proving my point.

Whatever. This is what I think of you.

[andrew]

I guess this is a last word competition now.

[madbrad]

wait, beetles had 6 pots? that's news to me!

[andrew]

The original ones did. I'm sure of it.

[madbrad]

Do you mean the 30s ones that Hitler oversaw? Of those I know nothing.

[bud]

maybe you're confusing Hitlers Volks Wagen with Volks Austern. 6 pots of Oysters

[darwin dali]

The original ones did. I'm sure of it.

Doubt it - all the sources I found say 4 cylinders, air-cooled boxer.

[andrew]

Yeah I made a mistake, Beetles had a 4 pot boxer engine and Porsches had a 6 pot boxer. Still, I maintain that the 911 is just a squashed Beetle. Either way, I like VW Beetles as much as I like Porsches.

Sits and waits for AKR to start jumping up and down and start pulling his hair out again.

[madbrad]

I just wiki'd the beetle and found nothing other than flat 4s.
The earlier tatra from which the design is derived did have an optional V8.

The 356 I think was 4 cyl, then the 911 had 6 but the 912 had 4. The 912 was just a 911 with a 4 in it.

from what I can gather the 911 did carry over some stuff from the 356, which was heavily based on the beetle, using its chassis if I'm not mistaken.

the Citreon 2CV has a half Boxer engine
