Button shows in FP2 exactly why the teams that focus car development around his needs ALWAYS flounder (anyone looking to moan is invited to find any proof at all to the contrary)

button spent a lot of the time in the pit working on tweaking his back suspension because the cars rear end was too loose and kept stepping out.

whereas Mag just put up with it and kept going faster and faster and ended up 0.7 faster

Now imagine both mags and buttons car received a rear suspension update focuses on helping button?

yup the result would be 2012, 2013 and 2014

and BAR, Honda etc

I think everyone should have gotten it by now mate. If they haven't they never will. :hehe:

Plus Button is old news now, and I suspect this could be his last year. Which is good for him and everyone else in F1.

Well, basing it on their first and second practice sessions Both Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton look to carry the trend on.

On their first flying laps Lewis Hamilton was the fastest out of all cars and Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest showing that they are comfortable with the track and able to be right on it straight away, Kimi Raikkonen did very very well in the first practice near enough matching the Ferraris up until they switched to soft tyres.

Hamilton was about 0.7 to 1.1 seconds faster than Rosberg every lap to get up to speed, in Practice 2 Rosberg set his fastest lap in perfectly clear air on the soft compound tyre and then Hamilton went out but he had a bit of traffic and also had to go over some gravel that another driver sprinkled the track with but even then he went 0.2 faster, only to go another 0.050 faster the next lap, his tyres didn't drop off like Rosbergs did which was rather unusual as we all know Lewis eats tyres.

Riccardo is a driver to definately watch this weekened, rain on Saturday and Sunday could really see him challenge the Mercedes cars, also keep your eyes on Kimi Raikkonen as he too looks very strong but he needs it to stay dry.

Getting to watch FP2 now since it was delayed due to the TDF coverage on NBCSN. Hearing the tire squeal coming out of some of those corners and seeing the cars sideways sure goes a long way towards making up for the less than screaming engines.

I wish I could remember where I read something recently...it's was comparing the aero and driving ability of the McLaren and another car( can't remember which, but one around their place in the pecking order) and it said the McLaren was easy to drive but the other one could go faster. And I thought ...Hmmmmm, I wonder why that McLaren is easier to drive at the expense of speed????? Where did the 2012 championship go! :banghead: and the 2013 car :banghead: and the 2014 car :banghead: but now big Ron is back

EDIT: OMYGOD , this is the Hungarian GP thread!! Ooops, thought it was a different one.

You know what. I really miss watching the GP2 because it's not on tele anymore. It's how I first spotted Lewis as a stand out ability, although I already knew of him from a karting documentary. Having just been to two Gp's I find myself getting back into it. And the drivers that fire me up are Mitch evans( that may have something to do with the nice men in Russian Time team :P , but he drove his first race amazingly well. ) and in GP3 Jann Mardenborough. Those two are my tips for future F1 drivers to watch out for, especially Jann.

I read somewhere that in the film 'driving Miss daisy' they had to find a driver who was very smooth with his inputs, especially around corners

On the free sky busting internet streams i watch, you get everything, GP2, (jolyon didnt make pole) GP3, Indy, F3, sportscars, even some mad aussi v8 stuff. Sometimes you get more interested in something else for a short while. Like indy on streets or track. and you initially think wow, what speed going round the ovals, so much faster than F1, but after a while it gets pretty tedious especially with all the comercialisation and sponsor talk and the generally irritating excitable american accents

Might have to give this a try!

Nice to see Ferrari appearing to be quite quick before, but a word of warning. Ferrari often end up as "best of the rest" on Friday but fall behind Red Bull and Williams on Saturday. This must be either because Ferrari's car is good out of the blocks (good base setup) but then as the weekend goes on doesn't gain time with setup refinements, or they run lighter on Friday as they seem to struggle more on light fuel in qualifying than the race.

I think Lemon means Hamilton will only win IF Kimi is 2nd.

2007 - 1st: Hamilton, 2nd: Raikkonen
2009 - 1st: Hamilton, 2nd: Raikkonen
2012 - 1st: Hamilton, 2nd: Raikkonen

Yep there was a photo of all the podiums of Lewis at Hungary with this on but I can't find it anymore.

Sky commentators seemed to think this would be Vettel's weekend. I agree with you though, I don't see anything changing. Ricc's had the legs regardless of qualifying or strategy. Only if it rains might Vettel challenge him, and that's only based on a strong Malaysia. Even then Ricc lost a wheel, so that was hard to fully judge.

It's definitely between five or six drivers for P3, depending on how Massa starts and who he takes out.
