Did anyone else hear Horner say to Vettel "That was great strategy Seb, well done!" while they were celebrating in the Pit Lane?

That confirms to me that Seb is a real racer, more than what some give him credit for.... But I have a freakin painful ear infection and that could have been selective hearing. :hehe:

But yeah... mid-pack he seems a bit out of his element, but in Australia he qualified 5th and finished second so he's not hopeless midpack. And if it weren't for cucumber-gate he would have finished on the podium in Malaysia as well...

My favourite drivers are: Vettel, Button, Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen, Webber, Schumacher, Massa, Grosjean... etc. etc. etc.

I found it surprising to see Webber so of the pace, Mark been close to Seb or sometimes quicker in the first 3 gps. So makes ya think that is Seb starting to unlock the pace out of the or is it all down to the track conditions and the car setup. Probably the latter considering Jenson had great pace in China then couldn't get the Mclaren to work at Bahrain. So it might be that your up one week then your down the next.

It's interesting, for sure. As Seb was streaking away into the distance at the front, Mark Webber was behind Lewis Hamilton in the early stages of the race, but he didn't seem to be being held up by the McLaren. Talk about mixed messages...

Well, the difference on the end was around 40 seconds... That's just too much.

Its easier on the tyres when you're out at the front, being in traffic this year is crucial to tyre life.

Bud, Webber didn't actually overtake or attack anyone. He had NO traffic problems. Two Lotus drivers just breezed past him. He didn't even defend.

He was not in clear air the whole race like Vettel was. The two Lotus drivers breezed past him in the first stint when they had fresher rubber, after that Webber was in traffic for a bit of the race. If you watched the Sky coverage Brundle explains the dangers of being behind someone for a few laps in how it affects the tyres for the worse.

i love these knee-jerk reactions from people these last few weeks. What happened to Mercedes walking away with it via their super-double-DRS? I know it isn't you, you're just posting the link.

You're right, F1 is so hard to predict this season.

Even so, in the last stint Webber lost almost 20 seconds, and at that point there was no traffic around him, at all. I really think that he sometimes sleeps in that car, during the race... :D

Thats a logical explanation...

Another factor apart from tyre wear/balance issues was he didn't need to have the engine turned up to the very end like Seb did covering Kimi.

Well, still, he wasn't under any pressure, so that surely helped him save his tires.
