HRT have confirmed that they are no longer a part of FOTA. Their reason for leaving is that they don’t feel that the small teams receive enough benefit from being a part of the organisation – this is despite the fact that there are still ongoing discussions about the Resource Restriction Agreement (RRA) to help keep costs down in the sport and help out the smaller F1 teams. Renault’s Vitaly Petrov has been handed a five place grid slot penalty for the start of the next race thanks to the accident that marred the start of the 2010 Japanese Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel lead Red Bull to a commanding 1-2 finish at this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix. Vettel took the top spot for the second year in a row, with team-mate Mark Webber closely following in second. Red Bull Technical Director Adrian Newey has been involved in an accident in Round 17 of the Ginetta G50 Cup at Snetterton. Newey was racing in the guest car when he was tagged from behind before being collected by a following car. Newey has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. Lewis Hamilton has been officially notified of the charge he faces over an incident on the eve of the Australian Grand Prix. Mercedes have chosen not to appeal Michael Schumacher’s penalty from the Monaco Grand Prix.
Schumacher was given a post-race drive through penalty for his overtake on Fernando Alonso on the final lap of the race. The stewards decided that Schumacher had contravened article 40.13 of the sporting regulations which states that no overtaking is permitted if the race finishes under a safety car. Read more... Williams have revealed the causes of both accidents suffered by their drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Rubens Barrichello. Mercedes are still contemplating whether or not to appeal against Michael Schumacher’s penalty. Schumacher was penalised after the race on Sunday after he was deemed to have breached rule 40.13 when he passed Fernando Alonso on the last lap. He was subsequently issued with a post-race drive-through penalty, in reality meaning 20 seconds was added to his overall time dropping him from 6th to 12th. Read more...
